- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 oz (680 g) marinara sauce
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 15 oz (425 g) ricotta cheese
- 2 cups (200 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
- 2 cups (500 mL) milk
- 3 tbsp (45 g) butter
- 3 tbsp (25 g) all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, then add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until soft.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese until well combined.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, stir in flour to create a roux. Gradually add milk, whisking until the sauce thickens.
- In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, then layer noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and white sauce. Repeat layers, ending with mozzarella on top.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until bubbling and golden on top.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Let the lasagna rest before cutting for cleaner slices.
- You can use no-boil lasagna noodles to save time.
