- 1 lb (450 g) white fish fillets (like cod or haddock)
- 2 cups (500 ml) milk
- 1 cup (150 g) frozen peas
- 1/2 cup (75 g) diced onion
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) butter
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) fresh dill (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups (300 g) mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup (50 g) grated cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté diced onion until soft.
- Stir in flour, cooking for 1 minute before gradually adding milk, stirring until thickened.
- Add fish, peas, mustard, and dill; season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour the mixture into a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes.
- Sprinkle cheese on top if using, and bake for 20 minutes until golden.
Notes
- Use any firm white fish for best results.
- Vegetables like carrots or corn can be added for extra flavor.
