- 12 oz (340 g) rigatoni pasta
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup (240 ml) beef broth
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery; sauté until soft.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook rigatoni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain.
- Toss cooked rigatoni with the bolognese sauce. Serve hot topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, let the sauce simmer longer.
- Add red wine for an additional depth of flavor if desired.
